Untitled or: the incomplete love story

"Once upon a time,"
Every good story starts that way.
All except for mine
I am afraid.

Once long ago,
I frownd down on romance;
Only small children believed in those
True love never had a chance.

Then one day,
A day like no other,
My prince charming came,
And he became my lover.

All those fairytale lies
Were now rendered true.
How I got lost in his eyes!
And I knew he loved me too.

But every story has its bad guy,
And mine is no exception.
True love's power began to die
Kept only as a deception.
We had to say goodbye
And even friendship built up tention.

And though tears we wept,
No difference could it have made.
Our story's villain kept
Us lightyears away.

For a time I believed in romance,
The power of a kiss so true.
And still I want the chance
To here him say "I love you."

And still I wait
Yearning for his arms again.
Does happiness lie in wake
When my story says, "the end?"
